Celebrating our Psychological Services: “Footsteps to the Future”

11 Nov 25

This week, we marked Psychological Professions Week with an event at our head office, themed “Footsteps to the Future.”

It was a chance for colleagues to come together to network, celebrate the incredible work of our psychological services and reflect on how person-centred care continues to shape everything we do.

The day began with a welcome from Professor Emma Wadey, Chief Nursing Officer, and Dr Fiona Roberts, Chief Psychological Professions Officer, who shared how HPFT’s psychological services can help to implement the NHS 10 Year Plan.

A big focus of the day was about moving from treatment to prevention. Colleagues showcased projects highlighting how early intervention can change lives, from supporting children and young people through Mental Health Support Teams in schools, to helping people stay well through relapse prevention, and developing pathways for those living with trauma or cognitive impairment.

The afternoon looked ahead to the future, with an introductory talk from Katy Healy, Chief Operating Officer. Colleagues got involved in exciting discussions on digital transformation – this included Avatar Therapy and new tools that are helping us deliver more accessible and tailored psychological support.

Throughout the day, colleagues also shared their ideas for the future of psychological professions by writing on paper footprints. These footprints answered the question: “How can psychological professions help deliver the three core shifts of the NHS 10-Year Plan?” and were laid out to create a pathway through our head office.
