16 days of activism against gender based violence

28 Nov 25

From 25 November to 10 December, the Trust is marking the 16 Days of Activism Against Gender-Based Violence – a global campaign calling for an end to violence against women and girls.

A group of staff wearing orange clothing stand together in a bright, modern atrium with banners and orange balloons behind them, promoting an awareness campaign.

This year’s theme, led by the UN’s UNiTE campaign, is “UNiTE to End Digital Violence Against All Women and Girls.” The focus is on tackling technology facilitated abuse such as cyberbullying, online harassment, image based abuse and deepfakes, which is growing rapidly and often leads to harm offline too.

Orange is the official colour of the campaign, symbolising hope and a future free from violence, and staff across the Trust have been wearing orange to show their support.

Display tables with leaflets, orange ribbons, and small items promoting safeguarding and awareness. Behind the tables are banners and boards with information about the Corporate Safeguarding Team and the “16 Days of Activism” campaign, decorated with orange balloons and handprint cutouts.

Our Safeguarding Team have led the way in bright orange, talking to staff and sharing resources with an information stand at our Head Office. Colleagues have also been encouraged to make their pledge to help end gender based violence and have been taking part in activities and webinars covering topics such as domestic and online abuse.

Gender based violence is one of the most widespread human rights violations. The UN reports that one in three women experience physical or sexual violence in their lifetime, and every 10 minutes a woman or girl is killed by an intimate partner or family member.
