HPFT shortlisted for national award recognising support for nursing staff

The Trust has been shortlisted for a prestigious Nursing Times Workforce Award in the Best Place to Work for Nursing Staff category.
The national awards celebrate organisations that are creating outstanding workplaces where nursing staff can thrive, develop and deliver high quality care.
By listening to nurses and learning from staff feedback and workforce information, HPFT worked with nursing colleagues to develop a programme that supports nurses throughout their careers. The programme has helped attract more nurses to the Trust, support them to stay and improve their experience at work. As a result, nursing vacancies have fallen from 23.2% to 7.4%, and staff turnover has reduced from 12.2% to 4.8%.
The Trust has created an inclusive and supportive workplace where people want to build their careers. This has been developed through initiatives including career development and work-life balance.
Registered Nurses, Registered Nursing Associates and Health Care Assistants play a vital role in supporting service users, families and carers across our communities every day. This recognition reflects the dedication of these colleagues and the positive impact of working together to create an environment where people can thrive.
Today, HPFT is recognised as one of the highest-rated mental health trusts to work for in England and has a waiting list of nurses keen to join the organisation.
The winners of the Nursing Times Workforce Awards will be announced later this year.
