A Trust Psychologist has had research on the value of Reflective Parenting (RP) groups published in the Clinical Psychology Forum Journal.

Dr Helen Eracleous, Chartered Clinical Psychologist for the Trust and Lead Adult Psychologist in the Family Safeguarding Team, Children’s Services, and Sade-Louise Fergus (trainee clinical psychologist from UoH) undertook the research which looked at the value of Reflective Parenting (RP) groups run by the psychologists and mental health practitioners in Hertfordshire Family Safeguarding Team.

These interventions offered in family safeguarding services aim to enhance parents’ ability to reflect on and mentalise their own and their child or children’s thoughts, feelings, behaviours and intentions, thus better equipping them to develop positive parenting practices and relationships with their children.

The research focused on service evaluation of the RP groups, giving parents’ perspectives on the usefulness of the groups, highlighting their benefits and also suggesting areas to improve on.

Isabel Worsley, Senior Service Line Lead – East & North Adult and Family Safeguarding Team said: “Congratulations. This is a great example of the fabulous work happening with HPFT staff embedded in child protection work in Herts.”
