Staff Survey results – celebrating another great year of improved results

18 Feb 20

The results of the 2019 NHS Staff Survey have been published today and Hertfordshire Partnership University NHS Foundation Trust (HPFT) is celebrating another great year of improved results.

The survey results tell us that HPFT is becoming an even better place to work - of the 91 questions asked, 73 of these show improvements from last year and 57 questions are better than the national average.

NHS organisations across the country take part in this annual survey, the results of which are used to improve working conditions for staff and ultimately improve patient care. HPFT saw its highest response rate for five years, with almost 1800 colleagues (57 per cent) completing the confidential survey.

Best score for safety culture and a great place to work and receive care

Safety is a top priority at HPFT and for the second year running, we have achieved a national ‘best score’ for the theme of safety culture amongst mental health and learning disability trusts, which is a tremendous achievement.

Our staff have told us that the care of our service users is the most important thing at HPFT. Staff also recommend HPFT as a place to work and as a place for their friends and family to receive care.

HPFT’s Chief Executive Tom Cahill said: “Receiving feedback from our staff is really important, as it helps us to ensure they have the right tools to do their jobs to the highest standard for our service users. It also ensures that HPFT continues to be a place where our people enjoy coming to work and where they feel supported, valued and encouraged.

“I’m delighted with these results which show that we’re improving year on year, but there is still more for us to do, to ensure we make it an even better place to work and receive care.

“I would like to say a very heartfelt thank you to all our staff, for all that they do, day in day out, to improve the lives of our service users and their families.”
