Wonderful woodland makeover at 5 Forest Lane

08 Sep 25

A generous donation from Wall Art by Promote Your School has given HPFT’s Eating Disorders Team for children and young people a fantastic new waiting room.

What was once a plain space with a clinical feel, is now filled with a calming woodland scene. The change has made a real difference to the atmosphere, helping young people and their families feel more at ease from the moment they walk through the door.

Dr Elizabeth Haines, Clinical Psychologist at HPFT, shared: “It’s been a complete transformation. The white walls are now filled with trees and greenery, and the whole space feels warmer and more welcoming. Our families and staff have all said how much they love it - it’s made a real impact.”

The woodland design was chosen with the help of votes from the families who use the space. On behalf of the team, Elizabeth says: “We want to thank all those that got involved in the design phase – we are so pleased they love it as much as we do!”

The project came to life thanks to the kindness and generosity of a family who wanted to give something back after receiving care from the CYPMHS Eating Disorders Team. Together with the team, current service users and families, they were instrumental in bringing the vision to life.

“We’re so grateful,” said Elizabeth. “It’s lovely to see young people feeling more relaxed when they come in and being able to use the design as something to focus on, whilst they wait for their appointments. We hope that this beautiful design creates a less daunting atmosphere for our young people and families who are experiencing a difficult time and looking to us for support.”
